ITEM: The mystery of Kazakhstan's pentagram.
Originally created as a patriotic gesture representing the "red star", it is now intended as a children's remmus camp field. Perhaps not so ironic after all, considering the Atheistic stance taken at the time. The pathways are lined with trees, and overall, I think it is a good idea, also considering the novelty and location shoreside. No one seems to have mentioned the scowling face on the other side comprising the land mass, but what a delightful, if not appropriate design intended for fun and games.
The area is also largely unexplored with gravesites and even some primordial megaliths. Now that the government has become more allowing for religious expression, perhaps some day an enterprising Russian Satanist may purchase this area for personal purposes, and even erect a Lair thereof. I seem to recall a certain rite in The Satanic Rituals "The Call of Cthulhu", which would be perfect for these purposes, plus, the very thought of residing in the center of a pentagram would provide for some psychological, if not pschodramatic inspiration.
Its discovery has no doubt stirred some conspiracy theorists, but is it used by Satanists? Probably not at this time, but why not? Amusingly, I have heard claims of "rest and relaxation farm"* facilities allegedly used by Satanists during the Satanic Panic, and I think this would be a harmless, and beneficial hypothetical inclusion.
This reminds Me of a satirical image I created entitled "Baphomet crop circle" asserting the "alien elite", as it were:
