KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Police took a man into custody Wednesday morning after he allegedly tried to catch a church on fire.
It happened at about 10 a.m. at the St. John The Baptist Catholic Church at Fourth and Barnett.
The man allegedly tossed a rock or brick with the word Satan written on it through the window on the back door to the church, KCTV5's Heather Staggers reported.
He then allegedly used a piece of paper to try and catch a door inside the church on fire, Heather said.
Police arrived and took the Denver, Colo., man into custody.
During their investigation, police said in a news release that they determined he had also caused damage to a Subway shop near Seventh and Minnesota.
Prosecutors hadn't yet filed any charges against the man.
